Vincentian Marian Youth

          Mission Statement

The mission of the Vincentian Marian Youth Association is to create an environment, which empowers the youth to enter into communion with God in loving and serving the Church.

This mission is accomplished:

1.Through promotion of youth ministries.

2.Through teaching and fidelity of the Gospel message.

3.Through our commitment to social justice and service to the poor.

Vincentian Marian Youth Association (VMY for short) of Southeast Missouri is a Catholic youth outreach program. However, our local association is part of a much larger community, called the International Vincentian Marian Youth Association, which is located in Madrid, Spain. VMY boasts of 200,000 members in 80 countries throughout the world. Since the United States national office is not yet established, we here in Southeast Missouri are the groundbreakers for the association in the USA. Our local office is located at 103A St. Joseph Street, Perryville, MO 63775.

The origins of VMY stem from the apparition of the Blessed Mother to St. Catherine Laboure in 1830. Mary gave St. Catherine two requests: have a medal struck and gather youth in my name and hence, many graces will flow. The results of the apparition are the Miraculous Medal and the Vincentian Marian Youth Association.

VMY is not a youth group! We are an outreach to parish youth programs. All our endeavors are planned and organized in collaboration with area youth ministers, parishes, and youth, with the aim of nurturing the spirit of mission and faith growth of teens and their mentors. Regularly newsletters, packets of information, and flyers are mailed to youth ministry programs and Catholic high schools in the area, inviting the youth and adults to participate in our events. Our aim is to unite all so we can build God’s kingdom.

Southeast Missouri VMY has grown steadily since our first encounter in January, 2004. Jesus through Mary has led us to become much more than we envisioned at the onset. VMY is proud of the programming it provides. We are grateful to the Archdiocese of St. Louis for giving us “a thumb’s up.” We thank the many youth, priests, and the area youth ministers who have “jumped on board” to work with us and to use our services.

VMY is a non-for-profit organization funded by grants, donations from individuals and businesses, the Daughters of Charity, and the Vincentian priests and brothers. To learn more about how you can help VMY become a nationwide success visit our “Make A Difference” Page.

Vision Statement

Vincentian Marian Youth is the instrument of our God and our Holy Mother Mary to aid the materially poor and the poor in spirit.

Our ministry is a reflection of God’s urgency to welcome the youth into His open arms and to guide them on the arduous pathways of life.

Our ministry is shaped in Christ as the Savior for all, and in turn we are called to serve all, express a love that surrenders all, and inspires faith and trust; regardless of age, status, race, or creed.

Our ministry, through service and prayer, unites us to those we serve in the Body of Christ, as well as guides and maintains the integrity of our mission in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul.
